Oxwich Bay
Located on the Gower Peninsula‘s southern coast is Oxwich Bay, a vast stretch of golden sand. Oxwich is one of those beaches that genuinely does have something for everyone with a host of activities both in and out of the sea.
Oxwich Bay is a popular beach with families and can get quite busy towards the village end during the summer. The gently sloping sands make it ideal for paddling and taking a dip, whilst further out to sea speed-boats and jet skis zoom back and forth. With a car park practically on the beach this is an ideal launching spot.
If you’d prefer to get away from all this (and why wouldn’t you!) head eastwards along the beach towards Nicholaston Burrows. This end of the beach is backed by extensive sand dunes which form part of a nature reserve and is rarely busy.

Oxwich Bay Reviews
Disappointed Paddleboarders
Extremely disappointed, and a little annoyed by the fact that Oxwich beach have now banned hightop vans from parking on the front. Apparently this decsion was made following an incident on the beach where drunken van owners parked overnight and caused criminal damage. However, pop-top T4’s, T5’s are still permitted. Having an elderly disabled passenger with us, who relies on the facilites we have in the van, we had no other option but to leave, with 2 very upset paddleboarders. I fail to see what difference the height of the van makes to your behaviour on the beach. Let’s hope they re-evaluate this ruling, as it’s our favourite beach to paddleboard with our closest friends.
Toilets

Oct 05th 2019The area is wonderful we paddle board & kayak
the toilet’s are absolutely disgusting. £5.00 for parking is fine but please spend some of the takings on the facilities.
cold water external shower’s would be fabulous.
Compared to the rest of the gower it is not a very good advert for the Welsh coast line it’s a shame.
Best beach in Gower and so accessible !

Jul 21st 2023Fantastic beach, safe to bathe in and with a super car park which means you can drive on to the beach foreshore. Cars can park on the beach front and camper vans just a little behind . Two shops and a Michelin star restaurant and even a sauna on site too.
What more could you want ? Possibly the weather !!!!!

Nov 22nd 2022Such a beautiful beach but so badly run maintained with disgusting toilets and overpriced shops. Car parking is a joke. Don’t bother coming here, there are plenty of other wonderful beaches in Gower. This beach is privately owned by the mother and son who own Penrice Castle, which makes you wonder what they spend the profits on - probably on expensive holidays for the two of them!

Jul 14th 2019Such a shame about the huge bins as they smell so bad. Also the mess left behind by bbqs. Makes for lots of flies
